OUR WORK
Building a More Resilient Rockaway
Regional Ready Rockaway works to protect waterfront and coastal communities throughout Rockaway and Queens through disaster preparedness, coastal resilience, community partnerships, government connections, and innovative approaches to emergency response.
π Coastal Resilience
Strengthening waterfront communities against flooding, severe storms, coastal hazards, and the growing impacts of climate change.
ποΈ Community & Government
Bridging residents and government so vulnerable coastal communities can better access public services, emergency resources, programs, and infrastructure investment.
π Disaster Preparedness & Relief
Helping residents prepare before emergencies and connecting communities with information, assistance, and recovery resources when disasters occur.
π‘ Innovation & Technology
Exploring emerging technologies and community-driven solutions that can improve preparedness, early warning, disaster response, and coastal resilience.
Innovation in ActionFloodHive
A smarter early-warning network for coastal flooding.
Regional Ready Rockaway is exploring FloodHive, a community-based network of wireless flood sensors designed to detect rising water across Rockaway and share information across a connected system.
By combining real-time sensor data with artificial intelligence, the concept could go beyond identifying where flooding is occurring to help anticipate where the water may be headed nextβgiving residents, community organizations, and emergency responders more time to prepare.
FloodNet tells us where the water is. FloodHive asks: Where is the water going?
